Volleyball: USA (with Griffin alum Wong-Orantes) eliminated at World Grand Prix

The U.S. volleyball’s team quest to win the World Grand Prix came to an end this morning with a loss to Italy.

The Americans, with Los Al alum Justine Wong-Orantes (LAHS ’13) starting at libero, needed a win to stay alive after falling to Serbia the day before in the first match of the final round of the Gran Prix.

Wong-Orantes, whose hometown is Cypress, was credited with 14 digs and 18 excellent receptions on 22 chances.   She had 19 digs in the loss to Serbia.
