ALAMITOS BAY: SeaPort Marina Hotel Out, Development Moves Ahead

After years of bubbling controversy and frustration, it looks as if Long Beach may be getting something right about what to do with prime land nestled in the southeast corner of the city.

An area that some critics have called a slum could be transformed into a ritzy venue like Newport Beach’s Fashion Island, developers say.

Anything close to Fashion Island would be a vast improvement over the run-down SeaPort Marina Hotel property sitting near the crossing of Pacific Coast Highway and Second Street, near the city’s border with Seal Beach.
