The inaugural Seal Beach Film Festival takes place this weekend — bringing a bit of tinseltown art and marketing hooplah to Mayberry by the Sea.
The festival opened Friday with the check-in and a silent auction at Javatini’s on Main Street, and continues on Saturday with a full slate of “22 awesome and entertaining” films and shorts and trailers at McGaugh School. The event concludes Sunday with a workshop and awards ceremony.
One of the highlights of the festival is the showing of UFO Pictures’ latest motion picture, “Breaking Legs,” on Saturday, July 29, at 2:30 p.m. Released online on April 25 by Vision Films and Sony, online, the “…cross between ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘Footloose’” will be one of the feature films of the weekend.
The Sun News interviewed producer Micah Brandt and director Mark Marchillo before the big weekend.
