The OUR Los Al TV crew heads over to the 21st annual Pathways to Independence fundraising gala which is always held on the streets of the Park Estates neighborhood of Long Beach.  This year’s theme is Wild West in the Park.

Pathways was started many years ago by Dave Bishop, then the principal at Laurel High School in Los Alamitos, and its purpose was to provide support and a pathway to independence for some of his students and graduates, disadvantaged young women who came from very very tough circumstances.  Using “tough love” the program has had great suiccess over the years.  Although the event is now held in Long Beach, many residents of Los Alamitos, and Rossmoor are still very involved with the group’s operation.

More information on Pathways can be found at their website — pathwaystoindepenence.org.
