Ocean Place, the new tract of homes located on the former DWP property on First Street, plans to open a sales office in January, according to Bob Yoder, division president for Shea Homes Southern California, the new property developers.
Shea purchased the property earlier this year from the Bay City Partners, a group of local long-time residents, for more than $36.6 million, according to CoreLogic. The company began grading the lot a few weeks ago and expects the work to take two-and-a-half-months.
Yoder told the City Council the company didn’t get started as quickly as they would have liked. They got the grading permit early, but overlooked a requirement to build a temporary soundwall on First Street to minimize the noise of the grading work.
