She just made History! Laura Yaeger takes command of 40th infantry Division


She started her ROTC training at the Base and she has returned to become the first female to ever command a United States Army Infantry Division.  Brigadier General Laura Yaeger was formally sworn as the new commanding general of the 40th Infantry Division — California’s own Sunburst Division — before a big crowd and big pomp on the Los Alamitos Army Airfield Saturday morning.

“Having been the daughter of a National Guard soldier, I know personally how drill weekend always seems to land on a birthday, wedding, anniversary, or how the water heater quits working or how the car won’t start on the second day of [training],” Yeager said.
