Former Los Al Griffin volleyball standouts Geena Urango (LAHS ’10) and Emily Hartong (LAHS ’10) are among 12 players representing the United States at the ANOC World Beach Volleyball Games on Oct. 12-16 in Qatar.
Each beach volleyball team at the World Beach Games will have four players with two substitutes. Joining the former Griffin stars on the women’s side are Karissa Cook, Kelly Reeves, Katherine Spieler, and Allie Wheeler.
Both the women’s and men’s fields will include teams from eight countries.
Hartong and Urango, who just teamed up earlier this summer, have been steadily improving. They won gold at the NORCECA Tour event in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic this past weekend. They will compete in the AVP’s Hawaii Open on Sept. 20-22 in Waikiki.
