Mama’s kitchen was always the one spot in our home where we gathered to enjoy each other and our Mama’s amazing cooking. We cherished the sweet aroma of homemade biscuits baking in the oven, the sounds of sizzling bacon and farm fresh eggs crackling on the stovetop. The refreshing lemonade and Mama’s secret recipes for anything and everything good kept us so comfy. Mama always knew how to make everything alright, regardless of the world around us. We love Mama so much, we want to share her with all of you!

Welcome to Shenandoah at the Arbor! For more than three decades, Rick and Jill Wilson have been serving delicious, home-style cooking with a fresh, upscale flair. Their creative approach to cuisine has earned them a loyal following of customers who, over the years, have become more like family. And for the Wilsons, family, friends, and food are their recipe for success. The original Shenandoah opened in the Long Beach neighborhood of Naples in 1983 with a menu inspired by Rick’s Southern roots. One year later, the restaurant moved up the street to scenic Belmont Shore. It was here that Shenandoah gained acclaim for its American regional cooking, especially after winning raves from a Los Angeles Times food critic. Shenandoah became prominent on the local food scene, and it was not unusual to spy a celebrity or two enjoying apple fritters and Granny’s fried chicken. After two decades in the Shore, the Wilsons opened a location in Los Alamitos, in 2003. Set within a quaint bungalow in Arbor Village, Shenandoah continues its legacy of dressed-up, down-home cuisine. The restaurant is ideal for a lovely meal with friends or family, a casual night out, or a special celebration. The outdoor dining patio is especially charming, with its shady mulberry trees, koi ponds, and lush gardens. Shenandoah offers live entertainment weekly and a variety of themed evenings throughout the year, so be sure to check out the Special Events page to learn more! Rick and Jill look forward to welcoming you to the family. They’ll have a table waiting.

Back in 1970 if you wanted good fresh fish you had to drive to Newport Beach or San Pedro. Wanting something more local, Seal Beach dentist, Walt Babcock, and his wife, Mona, decided to open their own restaurant and fish market. Thus Walt’s Wharf was launched. Walt used his own fishing boat to bring in fresh fish for the first few years, and then utilized his contacts with local fishermen so there would always be fresh fish at the Wharf. Walt and Mona sold the restaurant in 1979 to devote themselves to their new purchase of 110 acres of farmland near Lompoc in northern Santa Barbara County. The existing crop of lima beans was immediately pulled, and in its place twenty-five acres of wine grapes were planted. Then, in 1984, they built a small, state-of-the-art winery called Babcock Vineyards, and their son, Bryan, became the winemaker. Meanwhile, the restaurant had closed, and Walt and Mona decided to reopen it. They installed a new grill with a live oak fire, replaced the fish market with a lively oyster bar, and committed themselves to making Walt’s Wharf the best seafood restaurant in Seal Beach. By this time, Walt was growing organic vegetables and lettuces at the farm, which he delivered to the Wharf on a weekly basis. He also sought out local growers of specialty vegetables and lettuces to deliver to the Wharf when the farm’s small supply ran out. Walt’s Wharf continues to serve the freshest fish and vegetables available. We make our own fresh pasta and desserts daily. Our outstanding wine list is accentuated by the excellent selection of wines from Babcock Vineyards, where there are presently 60 acres of vineyards run by Bryan Babcock, now a world-class winemaker. Our entire staff welcomes you to Walt’s Wharf, where… If it’s fresher…It’s still swimming!

Two local locations: Long Beach — 5271 E 2nd St, Long Beach, CA 90803 Huntington Beach (Pacific City) – 21028 Pacific Coast Hwy, Ste E-100, Huntington Beach, CA 92647 Southern California native Mike Simms knew from an early age that he would foray into the world of hospitality. He and his brother grew up running around the kitchen and under the tables at French Market in West Hollywood and The Kettle in Manhattan Beach – his father’s and grandfather’s restaurants – but later did stints washing dishes and busing tables for spending money throughout high school. After graduating from Cornell’s prestigious Hotel School, Mike moved to the Napa Valley and managed Tra Vigne restaurant, where he was able to fully immerse himself in food. In trying his hand at home brewing, traveling to the world’s best wine regions and developing relationships with various winemakers, Mike came to realize his passion for beer and wine. In 2005, he took this experience and returned to his native Southern California, compelled to connect local restaurants to surrounding farms, breweries, and wineries and celebrate all things craft. He joined forces with his father Tom and brother Chris to form The Simms Restaurant Group and went on to open Tin Roof Bistro (2009), Simmzy’s Manhattan Beach (2009), Manhattan Beach Post (2011) and Fishing With Dynamite (2013). In 2007, Mike developed the Tin Roof Bistro in Manhattan Beach. Amidst delays, he stumbled upon vacant space just steps from the ocean in Manhattan Beach and decided (along with his brother Chris) the neighborhood needed a spot that served a simple, delicious burger and quality craft beer and wine. This concept quickly came to fruition in the form of Simmzy’s and opened in 2009, three months before Tin Roof Bistro. In 2012, Mike shared his knowledge and passion for wine and beer with the community of Belmont Shore at Simmzy’s much anticipated second location. Now there is a third Simmzy’s in Venice Beach and a fourth at Huntington Beach’s Pacific City development.
